Have you read our blog? ‘Labour’s Landslide: What the new government means for charities and non-profits’. It goes through some of the policies and promises that could impact charities. “It's been reported that 242 MPs in the Labour government have experience in the charity sector, ranging from employees, volunteers and fundraisers. Donors have the opportunity to maximize their impact by believing in the immense potential of smaller organizations. Organizations like ours, are closest to the work. 📊 Charity legacy income is estimated to have reached £4.1bn in the year 2023/24 — just a 1.3% increase on the previous year but still remaining above the £4bn level. Charities - the set and forget myth No doubt all persons responsible for charities (board, management etc) are aware that there is an ongoing obligation to review the governance and operations of the charity to ensure it remains eligible to be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. For those that need a refresher or are looking for a way to document this, the ACNC has a self evaluation form that can be completed and signed by the board. It's a good way to meet your obligations... but ultimately ensuring all responsible people are invested and across the activities of the charity is an even better outcome.
